Secunderabad man loses Rs 2.47 lakh to fake courier message

Secunderabad Man Loses ₹2.47 Lakh to Fake Courier Message
A 36-year-old man from Secunderabad lost ₹2.47 lakh in a cyber fraud after falling for a fake courier SMS claiming to be from DTDC.
The message stated that the second delivery attempt of his parcel had failed. Since he was expecting his vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC), he believed the message and clicked the link.
Immediately after clicking, the victim’s phone froze, and multiple OTP messages appeared on his screen.
Within minutes, he received alerts that ₹2.47 lakh had been spent from his credit card without his authorization.
He quickly locked his card using the banking app and contacted Kotak Bank’s helpline to block the card and file a complaint.
Cybercrime Police urged the public to stay alert and avoid clicking on any unknown courier-related links, even if they seem to come from reputed companies.
