Apple, Google send new round of cyber threat notifications to users around world

• Apple and Google Issue Global Cyber-Threat Alerts

Apple (AAPL.O) and Google have sent out a new round of cyber-threat notifications to users worldwide, warning them of potential surveillance targeting.

• Alerts Triggered by Suspected State-Backed Hackers

Both companies regularly issue such warnings when they believe users may have been targeted by government-linked hacking groups.

• Apple’s Warning Sent on December 2

Apple confirmed the alert rollout but did not reveal:

  • How many users were targeted

  • What hacking activity was detected

  • Which group or country was behind the attack

• Apple Has Notified Users in Over 150 Countries

This underscores the massive global reach of such cyber-surveillance attempts.

• Google’s Warning Issued on December 3

Google announced that it was notifying all users affected by Intellexa spyware.

• Intellexa Spyware Targeted Several Hundred Accounts

According to Google, the targeted accounts were spread across countries such as:
Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Angola, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and Tajikistan.

• Intellexa Group Is Under U.S. Sanctions

Google stated that Intellexa — a cyber-intelligence vendor — is “evading restrictions and thriving” despite U.S. government sanctions.
